ARTiST TERMS.
Consignment T&Cs:
We work on consignment, therefore all artwork held with us still belongs to you. When the artwork is onsite we will be responsible for caring for it which includes insurance. If an artwork is damaged whilst on consignment to us we will either send it for conservation or buy it off you for the artist price.
The artist price is the commission due to you for the sale of each artwork. This is calculated as 50% of retail minus VAT. Therefore if an artwork is £600 retail, £250 would appear on your artist statement. If you are VAT registered you may then add VAT to your invoice.
Artist statements will be issued monthly. We aim to get artist statements sent out in the second full working week of the following month. Each artwork sold the previous month will be detailed in the artist statement. If you are VAT registered you will need to then invoice us for the gross commission. If you are not VAT registered you need to do nothing as the artist statement itself will act as an invoice. You will then be paid within 30 days of the invoice date.
Where available, the price of the artwork will be taken from the artist's website. Where not available the price will be set by the artist inline with your current market. We are more than happy to give guidance on this if ever needed.
You can take your artwork back whenever you like. If it has been framed by us then you have two options - you can give us an artwork of our choosing with the commission value of the price of the frame or you can buy the frame from us at cost.
Once we have all the artworks at the gallery we will condition check, photograph and upload to the site. You will then receive a consignment note confirming inventory received and we are good to go!
Production T&Cs
In order to secure an exclusive, EDiT. may collaborate on the production of an artwork. This arrangement is on the understanding that:
- The artwork remains exclusive to EDiT.
- EDiT. has first refusal on any other artworks from that series.
- Number 1 of the edition will go into EDiT.s archive.
Production costs will be split 50/50 with the artist. In the instance EDiT. pays full production upfront, we will recoup 50% from all sales from the artist. If EDiT. is splitting the production costs with the artist then we will operate on the same commission structure as detailed in the consignment agreement.
In the instance that the artwork doesn't sell, we may look at 'splitting' the edition. In this instance, the artist will take 50% of remaining stock and EDiT. will keep 50% of remaining stock. Each party will then own their half of the edition and no commission will be due. The artist may then place their half of the edition with other galleries on the understanding that EDiT. must be named as a production partner.
10% of the edition will be produced extra as APs and 10% of the edition will be produced as PPs. The artist will keep the APs and EDiT. will keep the PPs. The proofs will not be sold by either party until the main edition has sold out.
We are very much looking forward to working with you :)
